I've been to both Saucy's and McClure's and I think Saucy's is the clear winner, and definitely the best BBQ I've had in NOLA. The ribs were super tender, like fall off the bone tender. This was in contrast to other places I've tried where the ribs were tough and difficult. They were seasoned to perfection. The brisket was equally tender, and wonderfully juicy as well. Both meats were absolutely divine, and I love that they have a bunch of different sauces you can use. Use their spicy sauce-it isn't kept on the table, but on a shelf above the tables. There are other BBQ places in the city with more side options. However, no one, I repeat no one, has goat cheese mac and cheese. Saucy's usually only has it on the weekends, and I usually call ahead to make sure they've got it. It is the best mac and cheese I've had in the city, hands down. And NOLA's got some pretty slammin' mac and cheese. I also like the sweet potato muffins, and the spicy coleslaw is pretty good. The staff is super friendly and they have lemonade and iced tea so you can make an Arnold Palmer. So happy to have Saucy's right down the street from me!

This is definitely a solid place to get some BBQ in New Orleans. Being from the south I naturally love me some good BBQ and this place is doing it right. I ordered the brisket sandwich with a side of their mac n' cheese. It wasn't crowded when I dropped in so my food came out pretty quickly. I guess I am just lucky because from what I hear this place is often packed. I was surpassed how thick the brisket is cut, not saying that is a bad thing, just not something I've had before. They are generous with portion size and I love that they give you the choice of several different sauces, I believe there were 4 on the table and maybe another 1 or 2 hanging out by the beverage area. What's even better than sampling each one is the fact you can use as much as you want if you are like me and like a ton of sauce on your brisket. Something else I like was that they also give you the most amazing horseradish sauce in a cup to dip the sandwich in which was creamy and had just the right amount of spiciness. I enjoyed all the different sauces but I have to say the horseradish dipping sauce really stood out for me, granted I was dipping my sandwich that was sauced to the max, so I guess it was a collaborative effort on the part of the sauces. All in all I enjoyed myself and want to go back here and try the pulled pork soon.

Chicken breasts the size of an actual HUMAN tit. For like $5, I think. GRILLED ASPARAGUS (I order by the truckload) CHIPOTLE MAYO/MUSTARD I could DROWN IN Excellent Chaurisse and brisket. Questions?
(5)Anna L.
I had the ribs here, and they were done right! Many sauces to choose from (many on the sweeter side). Mac and cheese was great too. Will be back. Like this place more than The Joint.

Looking for some BBQ and glad we came upon Saucy's. We got the family meal which included a rack of ribs, brisket and choice of sausage with 8 single sides. Fed 4 of us plus plenty to take home for tomorrow's meal. Everything was soooo good! Ribs were tender, lean melt in your mouth brisket that came with a side of their horseradish. First time having alligator sausage which i dipped it in their mustard sauce. Definitely left the place satisfied.

Saucys BBQ is an amazing little spot on Magazine..the ribs are huge so order the smaller plate with just 2 or 3 ribs if just ordering for yourself.. Best BBQ I had in Nola so far.. Super friendly staff as well.. Mac and Cheese is really cheesy too :)I
(4)Joshua D.
I have heard of other BBQ spots in New Orleans that were suppose to be the best. So I tried a bunch. Saucy's is by far and without a doubt the best BBQ in the city of New Orleans. I ordered the brisket plate with the 2 sides of Mac n cheese and beans. The brisket was phenomenal and tender, it melts in your mouth. The Mac n cheese is really good and super cheesy. The beans are 3 different kinds of beans in one and have a really unique flavor to them. I definitely recommend Saucy's to be the your go to BBQ in New Orleans! #5Stars

The brisket is outstanding and I'm not a fan of brisket, actually ordered a pound to bring home, it was good!and goat cheese mac , amazing!!The sauces were great and great service even though it was counter service!!

Juicy brisket. Fall off the bone ribs. Delicious boudin sausage. Creamy & cheesy Mac and Cheese. Crunchy slaw. Must I say more? I don't, but I will! The 25¢ sweet potato muffins reminds you of Fall. Dunk it in the variety of BBQ sauces Saucy's offers & thank me later. Boyfriend opted for the brisket sandwich (boeuf french 9$) with blue cheese & a side of coleslaw. Stuff the coleslaw in the sandwich & get to eating. I love that they use the Vietnamese style French bread because it just adds that super light/ crunchy dynamic. Best freaking sandwich I've had at any BBQ place. I can truly imagine the French bread soaking up the juicy goodness from the pulled pork (which is what I'm choosing next time I visit). The brisket was thick cut & oh so juicy. It seriously just melted in your mouth. It didn't need any condiments because it stood so well on its own! I loved the boudin sausage. It was seasoned so perfectly. & it wasn't mushy like other places. My only complaint is that the casing around the sausage made it really difficult to cut into. The horseradish sauce complemented the boudin like pb&j! Also, hands down best Mac & Cheese I've had at a restaurant. It was super cheesy & so creamy. Which I know I said already. But some places are a little too dry. This was done perfect. Spicy slaw was Okay. Definitely enjoyed it more for the texture than the flavor. It wasn't spicy but maybe I just eat too spicy? Eh, wish I tried the bake beans instead. Seriously couldn't have had a better experience! Very inexpensive lunch. Especially if you check in & get your 20% off. Our meal was 24$

Excellent alligator links. Came here around 4pm so there was no crowd and I was pleasantly surprised by the food. Price: they have a coupon deal on yelp! 20% off which was pretty big since we wanted to try a bit of everything on the menu. The average sandwich was about 7$ and the plates were about 10$ so the meals were fair priced. Food: definitely recommend the alligator links it comes with creole mustard I believe. The sauce makes it superb. I got the two meat platter combo with the brisket and pulled pork because a lot of recommendations for it and I must say that was the only disappointing part. The meat was dry and even with the many sauces they had it wasn't better than just ok. The dessert is my favorite. Their cheesecake was beautifully designed. The attention to detail is what makes eating out a worthy experience. Service. Was good. Friendly and readily available and attentive. She had some good recommendations too when we chatted with her. Ambience. Casual dine in restaurant. A bit small but that adds to the charm. They have live music once a week too so feels like a small town unique place to go. Recommendations. Get the alligator link and the cheesecake.

This is my go to BBQ. Been to most of the other places around the city, but I always end up back at Saucy's. If you're dining in there is usually only 1 waitress and on busy nights the owners sometimes hang around and help out. It's a no muss, no fuss kind of experience. They get a lot of take out orders which keeps them busy, but it will be obvious why the waitress is taking so long when you see the line at the counter. BYOB Sweet potato muffins - 5 stars, have ordered just these without any meat because they are that good Boudin link - 5 stars, mustard is delicious Pulled pork - 5 stars, get it with the bun Ribs - 5 stars, like both the regular and sweet sauce The only thing hit or miss are the sides. Some days they are 5 stars and others I won't eat more than one bite.
(5)Drew K.
We as a group got a little of everything. The spicy sausage was phenomenal, but remember when they say spicy, they mean spicy. As a Texan, I've had better brisket but that's not to say this wasn't a good piece of beef. Fat was melted and meat was wet. You'll be happy enough. Their best plate we came across was the pork ribs. They were some of the best ribs I've had around. Sauce lovers rejoice. They have a large array of sauces spanning from sweet to vinegar based to hot, hence the name. Best barbecue I'e had in New Orleans and will happily return if in need of some good pork while around Uptown.
(4)Angie T.
I've been on a BBQ kick ever since I had the brisket at The Joint. I'm on a bit of a mission to taste all of the brisket that I can get my saucy little fingers on. Saucy's has some great brisket and they serve it with horseradish. I've never had it like that, and boy, I didn't know what I was missing out on. It was a very nice and delicious touch. The brisket is tender and cooked perfectly with lots of flavor. For my sides I chose the potato salad and the baked beans. I liked both, but neither were anything to write home about. Service was good...no complaints there. The place is pretty small and a tad divey, but that adds to it's charm. On the table there were four different sauces to chose from and I sampled them all and they were pretty good. Yay! Another great BBQ place in Nola!

Saucy's is a solid BBQ spot on Magazine. For many years New Orleanian's have had to deal with a dearth of good BBQ restaurants. Back in the early 90's my parents took me to Tipton County Tennessee Pit BBQ which was located where Slice Pizzeria now resides. That experience blew my mind and made me a lifelong fan of BBQ. Unfortunately for me, it closed shortly after I visited, but I never forgot that experience and have sought out good BBQ ever since. Now that New Orleans is becoming a BBQ town, no longer will children have to wander the earth looking for high quality smoked meats. My trip to Saucy's was a result of my primary BBQ spot being closed on a Monday and my deep craving for brisket and pulled pork. Saucy's was not only open, but they served me some damn fine BBQ. Upon entering I noticed that Saucy's is a relatively small place. I would imagine it gets crowded, but I got there right at opening and only a few tables were taken. The cashier taking my order was friendly and professional. A man I believed to be the owner was also behind the counter and fully explained the sauces to me when I asked. I could tell that he was very involved and loved what he does. That was even more evident when I sat down back at my office and sampled the BBQ. When visiting a BBQ restaurant for the first time, I like to try a few meats. This trip I decided on a two meat platter with sliced brisket and pulled pork. The pork was very good, but that brisket. Oh my. That brisket was smoky, tender and delicious. It was so good that I wish I had eaten in so that I could have picked the owner's brain for tips on making my own brisket. To me, that brisket is amongst the best in the city. Even if you don't think you're a fan of brisket, I encourage you to try this version. It's that good. I look forward to many more visits to Saucy's. If you are a BBQ nut like me, I encourage you to give it a try.

BBQ pork, brisket, and chicken plates are the best deals. Comes with 2 side and muffin. Get the macaroni with goat cheese. Great place to hang out with free wifi. Aloha. .
(4)Dreka G.
I ordered my food, a rib plate and Brisket. On my trip to the bathroom the kitchen was full of bottles of Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce and microwaves so I thought, aw hell, this can't be a good sign. Sure enough, it tasted like the meat was boiled and baked, there was no smoky flavor and I had to stop mid-rib cause I felt like I would get sick. I wanted the sauce to at least be decent since the place was named Saucy's but even that was bad. How did it win awards????!!!! Don't do it.
(1)Catol T.
Side are great! Had the mac and cheese, and the Asparagus.... yummy! Sauces are good. Brisket was smoked perfectly.
(4)Jenna M.
I love Saucy's! I am a picky, non-adventurous eater, so I always get the same thing: pulled pork sandwich and macaroni. Their pork is tender and delicious, and I always put the Southern Sweet sauce because it isn't too spicy. The macaroni is a little spicy, but so worth it! It is BYOB, and there is a little convenience store a block over. It is also order at the counter and get your own water/tea, but I'm okay with that. The staff and kitchen are very quick and friendly. All in all, a good neighborhood joint.
(4)Onkar D.
The pulled pork here is average here but the ribs are just bad. They're dry and super salty.. Typical predominantly white run southern joint-- no flavor!
(2)Braden R.
Let me just first start by saying I really appreciate what they're doing here. As a barbecue aficionado, I can't help but bemoan the inexplicably desolate landscape that is the New Orleans BBQ scene (with the exception of a few new places that have popped up). We could use all the competition we can get in the BBQ category. I'll also give them credit for the things they do right here: 1) the sweet potato muffins are pretty good, and are always a nice surprise to find in your to- go box. 2) they are never stingy about the amount of sauce they give you whether you dine in or eat out. They live up to that name pretty well. 3) the smoked beans have a decent smoky flavor, but could probably be improved with more spices and/or some meat in there like a lot of bbq joints do. Unfortunately, the quality of the bbq itself leaves a lot to be desired. I've gotten pretty much everything on the menu here, hoping that one thing will be better than the next. The sandwiches are fine, but the bread seems a little stale. The sausage is juicy, but at the cost of any real semblance of char on the outside. The ribs--I get why some of the reviews have claims about microwaves. The bark on the ribs is just not there, and the rub mixture usually is just a semi-moist topping on them, reflecting none of that heat induced "sticks to the rib" trademark of many rib rubs. They do very much seem like ribs that have been microwaved. The meat on the ribs follows suit--it's tough and dry, with a bunch of chew. I've smoked ribs many times before, and these are exactly what microwaved next day ribs come out like. The pulled pork needs spices, or something to kick up the flavor. It's just kind of bland. I've never gotten a portion that has much bark mixed in, and maybe this could help, I don't really know. I would give them two stars, but the beans are decent and the muffins are not bad. We're not a big BBQ market, but when others are doing melt in your mouth ribs with great bark and spiced pulled pork that is both juicy and flavorful, it becomes difficult to justify going to Saucy's, even if those other places are only open Weds-Saturday.

This place was awesome!!!the waitress was really helpful! I had the brisit was cooked perfectly I also enjoyed the potato salad and baked beans the atmosphere was really cool to it was only a couple of other people and they are not too crowded for lunch time but shortly after I finished my meal I noticed the rash come in this place is located in downtown New Orleans but not like you think when you think ofBourbon streetmore of a Soho uptown district area:)
(5)Brittany M.
I wasn't finished eating and I was already thinking about eating the left overs. Amazing house made saucys. Byob, no table service.
(5)Chad C.
There was a time when The Joint was the only good BBQ in the city. Now there are plenty to choose from, and I have to say I think Saucy's is the best of the bunch. I judge a BBQ place based on their brisket & ribs, and I think theirs are the juiciest and tenderest around. I tried each of the sauces, and they were all delicious. This place is underrated.
(5)Tiff D.
While it was good, I didn't think it was great. The meat didnt have any distinct flavor. Compared to McClure's, McClure's wins in my opinion. Saucy's is slightly less expensive on some dishes but the $30 all meat all sides plate at McClure's is a steal (5 meats and 7 sides!). McClure's also wins with their sandwhiches coming topped with coleslaw. Thats the only way to eat a pulled pork sandwich! MacnCheese is better at McClure's. Better sauces at McClure's. BBQ jambalaya is enough of a reason to go to McClure's. Smokier meats at McClure's although, the ribs weren't dry at Saucy's. I enjoyed my meal at Saucy's. If you're craving BBQ and in the area, this is a solid option.
(3)Christopher J.
My gf and I got delivery from here one evening, and we enjoyed it thoroughly! We split a 2 meat combo plate with brisket and pilled pork. We also got boudin, baked macaroni, and smoked beans. I thought it was all very good, and they give you a couple different style bbq sauces to try as well. The little sweet potato muffins are pretty good too. I recommend for good, quick, inexpensive bbq.
(4)Spenser R.
This was my first time here. I ordered the 2 meat platter, 2 ribs = 1 meat and I got Alligator as my second choice. For my sides I got potato salad and baked beans. Ribs were good, I would prefer them to be a little more tender,(I like the meat to fall off the bone) but they were still pretty good. Out of the 3 sauces I like the chipotle the best, sweet coming in second. Both of those went well with the ribs. I liked the mayo based sauce for the alligator. Baked beans were pretty good, they had good flavor. The potato salad had too much mayo for my preference. Boudin was ok, IMO it's hard to find good Boudin in New Orleans, really anywhere east of hwy 49. lol All in all I enjoyed the food and will be back.
(4)Christopher W.
Stopped in for a brisket sandwich when McClures was out and it was pretty good. The slaw I found to be just ok. I do like their slaw selection. Overall I still prefer McClures but this is a good backup.
(3)Rebecca B.
So delicious! This is one of my favorite BBQ places uptown. Located in a great area to stroll off over eating - this restaurant offers a simple menu filled with every bbq option needed. Our table of five ordered nearly everything on the menu and nothing disappointed. The sweet potato muffins are completely magical. Definitely a must if you are in this area!!!
(5)Randol H.
This is a small, unassuming little shop with some pretty solid barbeque. I had the two meat platter with the pulled pork and brisket. The pulled pork was decent, the brisket was awesome. The potato salad is mustard based and excellent; the BBQ beans were made from mixed beans instead of the navy beans that are typically featured in the dish and quite good. So far it's one of the best BBQ places I've been to here in New Orleans. The prices are great; two big entrees with sides for about 25 dollars. You can get a sandwich and a side for under 10 bucks. The restaurant itself is pretty cozy, maybe 8 tables in a seat-yourself arrangement with a couple tables outside for nicer weather. Beer isn't served but the restaurant is BYOB so feel free to pack in whatever. The service is very fast and friendly and takeout is available.
(4)Samantha D.
What a gem this place is! I had the pulled pork (delicious) with mac & cheese, BBQ beans, and muffin (all also delicious), and my husband had the brisket, which he swears is the BEST he has ever had--EVER. (But note that the brisket portion is small, so he recommends getting the 2-meat combo and doubling up.) I spend a lot of time in New Orleans, and this place will be my new go-to for quick, inexpensive, and delicious food.
(5)Antrice J.
The wait time was short and the ribs were off the chain good. Can't wait to go back !!!!!!!
(5)Jonathan N.
I know, I know -- New Orleans isn't a BBQ town. Better tell that to Saucy's, though, because I don't think they got the memo. Stopped by on a sunny Sunday afternoon with a friend to give it a try and I was not disappointed. When I try a new BBQ spot for the first time, I like to go with an old standard to see how it measures up. I'll then branch out from there if I like it. At Saucy's, that meant starting with a simple pulled pork sandwich. I added to cole slaw on top, which I always like, and smothered it in their Southern Sweet sauce. While I didn't have my breath taken away, I can honestly say that I really enjoyed it. For my side I had the beans, which were adequate. Kind of strange that they don't have any fries -- or even potato chips. Would complement the sandwich nicely. No pickles either. And y'alll know how I feel about pickles! Finally, sweet potato muffins were delicious!! Service was just fine: food came out fast, drinks stayed filled, and nobody was jerk-ish, so that was all good. And the prices were reasonable as well. When I need my BBQ fix, I know there's at least one good option in this non-BBQ town.
(4)Christille A.
As soon as you walk in the door, the aroma hits you with love!! The Mac and Cheese was to die for.. I had the boudin with the slaw..awesome. My son had the grilled chicken with asparagus.. The spices on the chicken reminded me of a Caribbean dish, really good. My partner had the pulled pork with the smoked beans..another winner!!!
(5)Laken P.
Very disappointed in this bbq. The meat had a nice flavor, but the sauce was definitely lacking! I ordered grilled asparagus, which weren't done at all. I've had much better baked beans, not sure what to suggest there. The Mac and cheese was pretty good.
(3)Sara P.
Came back for the Cochon Bleu with a side of Mac and cheese! Have fallen in love with the food and atmosphere. If you'll order the Cochon Bleu, get it in a bun. The French bread tasted a bit dry last time I got it. Overall, delicious!
(4)Evan R.
Great BBQ. Had a bangin' brisket quesadilla. I've been to their food truck on 2 separate occasions and each time I left wanting more.
(4)Leah O.
Full disclosure: I am no BBQ aficionado. I wouldn't even call myself a fan. It's something I'll have maybe once or twice a year. But the next time the mood strikes me, I'll definitely come back to Saucy's. It's a small place with a casual "bbq joint" vibe. They have a variety of sauces, all worth trying. I'm a fan of their smoked beans because they include a variety of beans instead of they typical one-note baked beans most bbq restaurants serve. And for the record, I came here with 2 BBQ lovers and they were just as pleased with their meal as I. If one restaurant can make all 3 of us happy, you've achieved quite an accomplishment.
(4)Eric H.
I am from Mississippi...home of fat people who live and love to eat. Ive eaten ribs for a long time.... These ribs are some of the best my fat ass has ever had. How? Half an inch of meat on each one. Cooked perfectly. Sides are out of this world...bbq beans, potato salad, mac and cheese.... Stop reading and start eating....
(5)Alan M.
Ordered the brisket plate with smoked beans and grilled asparagus. All were delicious... Some of the best brisket I've had. No knife needed. Friendly waitstaff as well!
(5)Deb P.
3.5 stars. Carolina-style BBQ with vinegar always makes me happy, but the food just didn't have any real oomph for me. It was ok.
(3)Chris W.
I am a BBQ snob who has eaten smoked meats with the local sauce across the country. The quality of the BBQ at Saucy's blew me away! The food here is top notch. BBQ just doesn't get any better. I had a two meat sampler with Carolina pulled pork and Boudin. Each meat came with its own sauce which made it over the top special. The sides, cole slaw and BBQ beans, were also perfect. Wife had brisket sandwich and she was a happy camper. Don't wait. Go here and enjoy!
(5)Curtis B.
We had the ribs, brisket, mac and cheese, cole slaw, and baked beans. The ribs and brisket were cooked perfectly. Not too soft and not too chewy. The sauces are also tasty. The mac n cheese was great! I believe they had some goat cheese in it. I didnt eat the baked beans my wife did. She said they were amazing! Will definitely visit again.
(4)Rhett B.
Saucy has the Magazine Street feel with some mighty good BBQ to serve up. First of all, sweet tea is a must with BBQ and it was very sweet with fresh, brew flavor. When I went in, my party was the only table and so our waitress was very serviceable. There are four sauces and the pulled pork is served with its warm mustard sauce. The sweet sauce was really good. The mustard base and southwest Chipotle were pretty good. The bold sauce was too bitter for my taste. I had ribs, pork, mac and cheese, and potato salad. Meat was really warm and tender and mixed well with the sweet sauce. Potato salad was mustard base and creamy but the mac cheese was outstanding. Mac and cheese had a little kick to it as well. As far as value, I have been to other BBQ places and received more for what I've paid. The two meat was $13 with 2 sides. In summary, food was really good and prepared really well. The sweet sauce is the best sauce they have. The downsides are the bold BBQ sauce and I left feeling that I should have been given a little more meat for what I paid.
(4)Danny S.
It's the best Brisket in town! Melts in your mouth, thick juicy cuts and the Sauces are Rollin'! The beans were delish, with a different touch to it, not dry like other places. And, they even have PB&J for the kids - Smart! Those other guys down the street, they don't have anything for little tikes. Just wished they could sell beer, oh' well, BYOB. Love this place!
(5)Sonia R.
I really liked Saucy's. The joint probably ranks just a tiny bit higher but Saucy's is much closer to where I live and I absolutely loved their Carolina pulled pork. It's served with pickles and red onion which may be a little out of the ordinary but it works. Great mac and cheese too :)
(5)Rubio R.
The food was good but the service was horrible.I went there on Sat.at around 3:45 pm so its not like it was crazy busy.Oh yeah that & the fact that there's only like 6 tables in the entire place & only 2 were occupied. So I'm not an expert on narcotics or anything but I'm pretty sure that our waitress was on some kind of pills/medication.She could barely keep her eyes open & our orders straight & then she kept disappearing. In fact we weren't the only one's in the restaurant that noticed it,the people at the table next to ours were saying the exact same thing. If you can't hold your eyelids open ,don't go to work.We asked her for my order of Mac n Cheese 3 times! Then, she kept mixing up our order with the people right next to us.The food was really good but the fact that she was so messed up just ruined our entire lunch. The ribs were delicious & falling off the bone, the pulled pork was really good too.The ribs were definitely my favorite hands down. The brisket was good just not really good. The Mac n Cheese was really really good & they used Penne pasta so I thought that was pretty cool bc most places just use the same pasta. They definitely weren't skimpy with the cheese even though the portion was kind of small. On the table they also had 4 different sauces, the Southern Sweet was my favorite.Overall the food was good I just think the waitress totally ruined it & that's the only reason I'm giving them a 3 stars.
(3)Boku S.
Nice little small spot. Decided to stop in. Good prices and a very friendly environment . It reminded me of someone's grandmas house. I ordered the 2combo Mac n cheese was delicious, very cheesy just the way I like it. The Briskets needed more seasoning and the ribs but the Bold sauce made it better. They have really good BBQ sauces. Not a bad place.
(3)E H.
this was good BBQ, but nothing incredible. we were in NOLA on vacation and this spot came extremely highly recommended by someone - we took a streetcar all the way here (40 minutes) and weren't over-the-moon impressed. just decently. good flavor, good quantity, just okay value though.
(4)Alexander N.
Super tasty! Cochon Blue is a badass sandwich! Easy pricing too! Coming back soon to try the brisket.
(4)Peter N.
The brisket is tender and delicious! Horseradish dip and their sauces are awesome, too.
(4)Roberta H.
Our family drove through here while on vacation this summer and LOVED it! Being from the south were picky about out BBQ but this place was better than we hoped for! Found it on Yelp and so glad we came here. Family agrees this will have to be on the list of future stops! :)
(5)Ian F.
My go-to place for Q in the city, definitely the best brisket I've had so far. Also, the sides are awesome. Smoked beans are great and the goat cheese mac is really, really good. Take out service is super quick so you can take it home and eat it all weekend!!
(5)Helen M.
my first time here was amazing! the workers were so nice and friendly and helpful.i love how happy they greeted me and my east posse. then the food was delicious. i recommend the whole damn menu cause thats how me and my posse rolled that day.the pull pork was great. the grilled chicken quesidilllas was great. then the ribs were great. i am in love yall....with those damn sweet potatoe muffins....woooooooh.!!!!!.... now this place knows there bbq!!!
(5)Rachael T.
Awesome spot for bbq I'm always there for my weekly dose of brisket. The variety of sauces is great. The ribs are very tender and a slab is more than enough for 3 people. The people that work here are very nice, Laid back and they have great owners that know what they r doing. Their brisket tops the list in new orleans. And the brisket melt really melts in ur mouth. Love it.
(5)Kelly L.
Came to visit New Orleans & wanted a change from the normal Creole food. Currently staying at a hotel on Royal street so wasn't down the block, took streetcar from canal & from there was about ten minutes! Now to the food, was very, very good. Portion is more on the small side, but very tasty. I had the brisket quesadilla with the baked beans. Both were delish. My friend had the ribs with the cole slaw and mac a cheese. I tried the everything but the ribs & it was deff all a must have. The ribs were good but a little greasy. Deff worth trying, but remember portions are small.
(4)Michael C.
The guys who run this place are simply amazing. Friendly, knowledgeable and serving up great food. In a sea of restaurant choices, you have to pick this place. The patters are large enough for two, the prices are right and the service quick.

Memorial Day craving barbecue, my husband and I went to Saucy's. The brisket was tender, as well as ribs, meat falling off the bone! The mini sweet potato muffins are a scrumptious sweet to complement their signature vinegar sauce. The only reason I gave them 4/5 stars is that it was really hot to eat in there.

Awesome service!! Was really craving BBQ and haven't yet found a place in NOLA when I came across Saucy's. So glad they have convenient delivery and take out options.

My relationship with the New Orleans Barbecue scene would best be described as "It's Complicated". I love the 'cue, and expect awesome with every bite. NOLA is not a barbecue destination That being said, I was glad to swing back by Saucy's last week to see if it went any better this time. GetMyPerks.com hooked me up with a $20 certificate for $10, so the time was right for a second chance... Some things - like the meat - were much improved. Others (sides) still could use some work. Off to the nitty-gritty: The Meats: The Ribs - They do a pretty decent St. Louis Rib at this joint. The rub works well with the pork, and it has a good smoke ring. The smoke flavor to all the meat is rather subtle, so a smokehead would be disappointed. The first visit here, the ribs were a touch overdone (not that fall-off-the-bone is a bad thing), and they were a bit underdone this time. They just had a bit too much "tug" for my tastes. Average the two, and they are on point. The Pulled Pork - Very tasty, light smoke flavor. It was what one should expect from pulled pork - tender and moist. It was quite good with the Vinegar Carolina Sauce. The Sausage - They always have Boudin on the menu, and the special on this night was Chaurice, which is kind of a spicy creole chorizo-type sausage. It was lightly smoked and quite juicy. It was a pretty tasty hot link, and hopefully they will have it again on the next visit. The Brisket - This one was a split decision. I was not impressed by the Brisket, and felt it did not have any real flavor. The bark/rub was completely underwhelming, and it tasted like roast beef. On the flip side, the better half felt it was quite tasty, and the rub was good. Then again, beef is usually pretty good in any form with a creamy horseradish sauce - which they provide with the order. Still going to say some work needs to be done in this department. The Sadness, er, Sides: The Macaroni and Cheese - Our last visit provided us the opportunity to sample some mac with a broken cheese sauce. They done fixed this issue. The Mac N Cheese now has a velvetta-style base instead of cream, and is full of flavor. Big upgrade here. The Potato Salad - It was quite tasty - I guessed it was pre-made, and thus the second disagreement on this visit began. The better half felt that it could be house-made. No clue, just plain, simple, standard potato salad. The Coleslaw - This was pretty bad. It was a cup of cabbage with about three drops of liquid. Very cabbage-y and very dry. Needless to say, it is a draw as to which was worse, the old Purple Slaw or this stuff. The Beans - No change here. Look delicious. Don't eat if you plan on being within ten feet of anyone for a few days. Garlic. Garlic, with a bit o' Garlic. Seriously, these things are chock full o' Garlic. Too, too, too much Garlic. I love Garlic. Other than the GARLIC, the beans were a bit garlicky. THE VERDICT: The 'Cue was much improved, with the only knock being on the Brisket (which was barbecued to a great tenderness) not having any flavor. The ribs were a bit underdone, which was probably more of a random variance than anything else. Two of the sides raised their game, the Mac and Cheese and the Potato Salad. The Slaw hopefully hit rock bottom, and can only improve. The Beans could use about five less bulbs of garlic per ounce. The Meat was tasty, so we're bumping up one to Four Stars. One of the better 'cue joints in NOLA.

I've been a fan since they were in Metairie. I don't like beans; never have. Saucy's beans? I would sell you for a pint. The owners are affable and always pleasant. As for the food, yeah...it is consistently delicious and delightful.

After living in Texas for last year I've been missing BBQ. Although I haven't found anything that compares to Lockhart, this is a fair substitute. Seasoning is spot on, sides & sauces are solid, only thing lacking was the quality of the brisket. I requested mine lean but the waitress haughtily explained that wasn't possible... Clearly she needs a bit more training. If I could've had a leaner cut I would've rated this 5*.

I'm a judgmental person. We all have flaws... Allow me to judge Saucy's BBQ... Tasty. Tasty. TASTY! We went to Saucy's because we were in the area, hungry, and found a coupon on Yelp. The coupon brought us in, but the food will keep us coming back. The service was incredible, as was the food. We got a 1/2 rack of ribs (6) and several sides. The beans were amazing (sweet and savory). The coleslaw was not overpowered by mayonnaise. Delicious! We got the dry rub on the ribs. Slow cooked, fall of the bone goodness. O-M-G! It was especially nice to be able to try the assortment of sauces they have stacked on the table. I usually leave BBQ places regretting my decision to have BBQ in the first place. Few places have made me feel otherwise. Saucy's is at the top of that small list of BBQ exceptions. Try it. NOW!

Went to Saucy's for lunch with my husband. My parents had said they didn't like it, but some friends of ours said that they loved it. So we went. Overall, it's ok. I got the brisket sandwhich and husband got the pulled pork sandwich. It was ok. Nothing spectacular about it. The sauces you could use tasted a lot like those you can buy at the store. The sweet sauce tasted oddly like Sweet Baby Ray's. The boudin was good, but we're pretty sure was Richard's, which also can be bought in the store. Not able to get a dressed sandwich, only onions and pickles. No bueno. It was ok. So I would go again, but not go out of my way to get there.

Had a great meal last night at Saucy's. Hubby had ribs ("best ever"), and I had the delicious pork cheeks on a bun (not on the menu yet, but you can ask for them). We both enjoyed the cole slaw; it was fresh and crunchy without too much dressing. Brought my own $6 bottle of wine that was put on ice for us. Excellent food. Excellent waitress. Excellent prices. Hurray!
(5)Charles S.
Went there expecting at least decent BBQ but the dry rub was a bit bland. The mac and cheese was cold and the meats had been microwaved. The manager was not apologetic and was even heard complaining in the kitchen. His defense was 'these are the best ribs in the city', yet the place was empty at 7:00pm and it didn't even smell like BBQ. The manager made no attempts to be accommodating. I do not recommend.
(1)Geri W.
The service here is so friendly! Also, their sweet potato muffin is divine! Their ribs and pulled pork are excellent, but the brisket was a bit dry for my taste. The only downside is that the only 'greens' for their side coleslaw. I wish they had some collards!
(4)Vincent M.
My boss took me here today and I was extremely surprised about how good the food was! I'm talking spectacular! I had something call a grilled sourdough brisket sandwich. I didn't even know I liked sourdough lol
(5)Mark A.
I ended up getting something at claudia clothing and I just happened to see this place so being so hungry I decided to put this food in my mouth I was ready to taste louisiana style bbq style a full rack the fantasy sauce was ok I liked the bold Southern and sweet southern sauce good place to eat
(4)Song K.
Good neighborhood BBQ joint in Uptown! I found the dishes to be reasonably portioned and priced, and helpful for my portion control; Yummy/fatty dishes are my greatest weakness haha. Other pros - Bottled sauces come in six different varieties, and there are other sauces specially made for each dish. The menu features alligator sausage option for those who want to try something uniquely NOLA. I ordered the beef brisket plate with two sides, upon strong recommendation from the waiter. The beans were overladen with sugar, and the horseradish sauce he so raved about did not exactly complement the meat as he promised. But more importantly I suppose, the meat was tender, rubbed with a good mix of spices. The ambiance is laid back, and it's BYOB! Grab a beer and head down over if you're uptown for a parade.
(3)Alicia P.
Kind of a gloomy place to eat a meal in but the food was just fine.
(3)B. L.
Very good BBQ uptown. They have a variety of different sauces. My wife loves the pulled pork with spicy slaw. I'm a big fan of the brisket. Beans and Mac and Cheese sides are unrivaled anywhere but the Joint. Great outdoor seating, which is available because this place is not packed yet. Owners are very friendly and always in the store chatting. I liked them in Metairie when they were serving the same outstanding BBQ with the same sometimes struggles of drawing a huge crowd. I'd love to see these guys get some marketing help, because once you try the BBQ, this place WILL be in your regular rotation. Give it a shot, it is good solid locally-owned BBQ Uptown!!!
(4)Howard H.
I haven't had the time to order anything other than a couple of sandwiches from Saucy's but my experience has been encouraging. The buns were fresh, the pulled pork was very good, very tender and moist. I liked the cole slaw but they also serve a pulled pork sandwich with bleu cheese dressing on the slaw. Nice combination but a little more bleu cheese, please. Sandwiches are about $8 each and the menu includes brisket, chicken and smoked sausage. Attentive staff and a nice location on Magazine, with some outdoor tables available. It's very good to have a bbq place in the neighborhood.

Just left this place. My boyfriend and I waited 45 minutes for food. We ordered the Cochon bleu sandwich and the brisket with Mac n cheese and baked beans. When we got the food it was cold. We brought this to the attention of one of our servers, and were told we could leave. So we're at Theo's down the street. I'd rather have pizza on Labor Day than be disrespected for BBQ. We won't be returning, ever!

This place has delicious bar b q. The meat is cooked to perfection, you don't need a knife, the meat dissolves in your mouth. My mouth is watering while writing this post. The brisket nachos are to die for. I have sampled everything on this menu, and have not been disappointed one time.

I finally got around to checking out this new BBQ place in my neighborhood and it was a solid choice for dinner on a Friday night. I will more than likely be back sooner than later because it is so convenient for me. I had the two meat plate with two sides-- I got brisket and ribs with mac and cheese and slaw. The meat was good-- very tender and flavorful-- but I felt like it was a bit lacking in the smoke department. There was also a whole lot of vinegar going on. It was prominent in even the plain meat without sauce. I'm guessing they must use it in their brine. (Or, maybe it was something in the wood that I just can't place? The meat had a definite twang to it.) They had a number of different sauces and I tried them all. The Bold was yummy on the brisket (the bottle said best on beef, and I agree.) The Fantasy sauce was the best overall (they bring you some in a cup that is warm and have a bottle on the table.) They had a couple of Chipotle sauces, I liked the sweet one but wasn't crazy about the other one (I don't remember what I was called.) I also got a little cup of white sauce on my plate, which I think must have been the blue cheese dressing that they put on the Cochon Blue sandwich, and it was good, too. I grew up going to the original Dreamland for BBQ (way back then, the only "side" they served was white bread for sopping up the sauce), so getting quality sides with my BBQ is still a pleasant surprise for me. I find that a lot of times the sides are an afterthought, however they held their own at Saucy's. The Mac and Cheese was definitely homemade and done southern style, which is my idea of heaven on earth. The slaw was light on the dressing, another personal preference, but had a definite kick to it. My meal also came with a sweet potato mini-muffin which was nothing short of divine. It was the perfect little bite to end the meal. I felt the prices were very reasonable for the quantity of food-- I left behind a little of the brisket and most of the sides because I was stuffed. The service was nothing short of outstanding. They don't serve beer/liquor, but do let you BYOB.

I love this place. The BBQ is better than The Joint in my opinion...and it's a muuuch shorter drive for me. My favorite thing on the menu is the nachos but the Brisket and Ribs are outta this world. I think they have 20 dollar racks on day a week (maybe Sunday?) Anyway it's a really cool atmosphere and they have huge tv's so I feel like it would be a good game day spot!

So I am from Tennessee and I have VERY high BBQ standards. We tried the pulled pork, alligator sausage, brisket and ribs. It was all sub par. The alligator sausage was actually awful and we couldn't finish it. Also the sweet potato roll thing was too sweet and dry. I tasted all their sauces and I appreciate the variety, but none of them were good. The one highlight is the mac and cheese is good and the beans are awesome. I hate to give this place two stars because my server and the manager/owner? was so nice to me, but the BBQ just wasn't good.
(2)Shannon S.
This place has some good brisket, great BBQ beans, and nice mac n' cheese. Continuing the recent trend, that seems to be happening in the fast developing NOLA BBQ scene, they offer five distinctive types of BBQ sauce. The brisket was very tender and flavorful but unfortunately lacked the hallmark of a distinctive smoke ring to really give the brisket maximum flavor. The brisket was served with a side of horseradish sauce which was a welcome flavor addition. The BBQ plates here are served with sweet potato muffins that are very tasty. I was never fond of this location when Ignatius was here and I still think it is a bit small and cramped but it might add some unique charm to the place. The BBQ options in NOLA continue to grow and improve and while this place certainly does offer some good BBQ and great sides the brisket at The Joint greatly outshines what is offered here.

Pretty darn good! A small dining area and BYOB are made up for by the super friendly staff and killer food. Ribs, and pulled pork nachos were both excellent and came with several choices for sauces. Our kids loved their BBQ chicken and sweet potato muffins. Most places that do pulled pork drown it in sauce to cover up the fact that the meat has dried out, but this pulled pork was actually moist all the way through without any sauce. We will definitely be back!!

"GET THE BRISKET!!!!!!" It's so good you don't need your teeth to chew it. Only need your tongue and the roof of your mouth to mash it into baby food Bar B Que paste. By far the best I've had in a long time. My wife and I will definitely be going back on our next visit to New Orleans.
(4)Shuo H.
Hmm maybe I'm just not a fan of BBQ in general? The upside: super friendly service! :D Our server Abby was one of the sweetest waitresses ever. She also paints, so you can buy her artwork to support her if you want. The food: I felt it was pretty average :T they do provide 5 or 6 different sauces to drench your BBQ in; I recommend trying all of them to see which is your favorite (I liked Southern Sweet with the pulled pork; the Fantasy Sauce kind of just tasted like something with Tabasco in it to me) What we got: -Pulled Pork Nachos: kinda dry, and the cheese hardened a lot before we dug in; I'm guessing we were supposed to add a lot of sauce to it? (which we did) -Half Rack of Ribs: I guess BBQ and I just don't mix because I couldn't get all of the meat off the bone :/ The meat itself was tender though. -Single Serving of Baked Macaroni [cup-size]: a little on the sour side for some reason? To each his/her own though, cause my boyfriend highly approved? O.o P.S. BYOB :)
(3)Brianna H.
Amazing food, fantastic service! I got the brisket sandwich with chipotle sauce and it was great!! Will most definitely be coming back!
(5)Leslie M.
Easily the best barbecue in New Orleans. Friendly, local owners, great service, and a very comfortable room. The house sauce is my favorite - kinda tangy, not cloying.
(5)Shelly H.
Everyone in my little family of three loves bbq. It is quite possibly a fave of all three of us. This place is our favorite bbq restaurant in New Orleans. The menu is not too extensive, even a bit limited in some areas (like the appetizers) but what they do - they do well. My son loves their ribs. He gets the 4 rib/1 side item plate. They ribs are huge and always well seasoned and cooked. They're so big that he usually only eats two and brings the other two home. My personal favorite is the chaurice sausage. It's fresh, locally made, and has an all around great flavor. I've tried all of their side items. The mac and cheese is by far the best. The beans and potato salad are also very good. The slaw - not so much - I'd steer clear of that one. They also give you these delicious little sweet potato muffins. I could eat tons of them. Overal, on food alone, I'd give them 4 stars. I gave them 5 because the owners are nice people, the servers always take good care of us when we go in, and the food is very consistent. We have never had a bad meal here. The food is always hot (unlike the joint) and its always cooked well (unlike squeal). In my opinion, this place is one of the most under rated for bbq. Squeal and the Joint always get the top 2 spots on the city's "best of" lists. The people voting are either doing so out of name recognition, they ate there once and thought it was good, or they haven't eaten there at all and are just writing stuff in. I say that bc we go to all three regularly - well we did until the joint served us ice cold food and said we had to eat it that way bc they couldn't warm it up. Out of all three, Saucys has the best tasting and the most consistent food. If you love bbq and your aren't eating here, then you are missing out. New Orleans definitely isn't known for bbq but maybe Saucy's can change that.

A great little barbeque place with great food and good service. The brisket is amazing. Be sure to get the baked beans! Not many tables and can get crowded so go early.

I have been driving by this new BBQ location for a few weeks now and just finally had the chance to get a taste! Here are some things I love about this place: awesome location (close to my house); just the right size (not to small and not to big - close enough to talk to strangers and have a good time!); great food and awesome sweet tea! As a suggestion from Abby (very attentive waitress that was sincerely nice), I ordered the two meat plate with ribs and brisket with slaw and Mac and cheese. The ribs were great (dry ribs) and the brisket was very tender. Would I change a thing or two, maybe! I like to have a good rub on my brisket with a little char, but the meat was so tender that I didn't think about it - I just wanted more! The warmed Fantastic sauce was delicious, a nice tomato/vinegar/spicy mustard base. They also served some other sauces that were quite good (besides the Fantastic -the Bold stood out to me the most). The coleslaw was a little thin on the dressing, but the Mac and cheese was amazing. I will go back often! They have great food and the management/staff make you feel at home! Enjoy!
(5)Karen H.
Great service! The waitress was really friendly and took our orders with a smile. I got the pulled pork sandwich and the portion was HUGE, especially for a 6-7 dollar sandwich. The sandwich itself was delicious with the slaw and would definitely recommend!
(5)Nick M.
Was torn between 3 and 4 stars. This place gets 4 for it's service alone. The food is average. To their defense all BBQ I've tried in this city is average at best. I don't get it but I'll keep looking. That being said...uptown area this and squeal are the places to go if you are craving BBQ.

Ahh yes!! Finally a really good BBQ spot on Magazine, and it's in my neighborhood. I was so excited to see Saucy's move in where Ignatius used to be located, right across the street from one of my favorite restaurants Magasin. I had eaten at Saucy's when it was located in Metairie because I had a Groupon, but I am not to fond of driving to Metairie for just for dining so I never made the effort to go back. I love BBQ food, and we so need this Uptown. So I got the pulled pork plate which came with two sides, I chose the mac-n-cheese and coleslaw. I had an empty plate when I was done and then I was picking at my son's smoked chicken. I don't know what was better the pork or the chicken. They also had five different sauces to try out, and I like how the labels on each one tells you which meat it goes well with. My favorite was the Southern Sweet. Can't wait to order takeout catering for my Saints parties! Everyone who likes BBQ needs to go to Saucy's and give it some business. I want this one to stay in my neighborhood!!! Oh yeah, and it's BYOB!!
(5)J A.
lots of awesome sauces and brisket was amazing. chicken was a little dry but the sauce it came with was good enough to make up for it. Also its BYOB
(5)Erin W.
Excellent barbecue--especially the pulled pork. Great house sauce. Excellent mac n cheese. Prices are reasonable--our dinner for two was $20, which doesn't happen often in NOLA. Service is prompt--not always the most friendly, but who cares?
(4)Maria B.
This restaurant offers a range of excellent signature sauces. There are a number of excellent meats to choose from, including slow cooked brisket, pulled pork, and local sausages. The sides are excellent and aside from what's on the menu, they have seasonal specials too. Portion sizes are good for one meal and the price is right. Get the 25 cent sweet potato muffin! The staff are super sweet, the service unrivaled.
(4)Adam V.
Excellent ribs and sauce. Sweet and spicy vinegar slaw was good too. I will return next chance I get.
(4)Alice H.
I have tried only the pulled pork and coleslaw here, so this is a very limited review. That said, I liked it so much that it's the only thing on the menu I've tried for that exact reason. Unlike a prior reviewer, I found the pork very moist and tender. I also thought the coleslaw complimented it well. It's not terribly spicy, but it does have jalapeño pepper shavings and coarse brown mustard in it, so it's far from bland. The pork & slaw sandwich comes with the better of this place's sauces on it - it's thin, savory, and nicely spiced. They do have a thicker sweet sauce too, but that's not my thing at all. My six year old liked it better though. The buns are nothing special - just regular egg buns - so the second time I ordered from there, I just ate my sandwich stuff sans bun. Since there was coleslaw involved, I decided I was eating a pulled pork salad and even got to feign healthiness. If Saucy's other offerings are as good as the pulled pork, it really could rival the Joint as yummiest BBQ in the city. Yep. A fan, I am.
(4)Samantha C.
Delicious food, huge portions, great prices, and stellar service. I've eaten there many times since I work nearby and have never been disappointed.
(5)Lynn P.
BBQ is average - no to impressed. Still waiting for a great BBQ place in New Orleans.
(3)Jonathan D.
I was pleased to find that a barbecue restaurant had opened up in this area of uptown, as The Joint is fairly remote, Voodoo BBQ isn't very good, and Squeal is way up in the Riverbend area. Saucy's took over the space formerly occupied by Ignatius, right next to Miss Claudia's Costume Shop and right across from Magasin Vietnamese Cafe. Unfortunately, Saucy's BBQ isn't quite what the doctor ordered. The beef brisket was pretty good, but the pulled pork was dry and grainy. The house "bold" sauce that the server recommended was awful...tasted like someone had poured a fifth of cheap whiskey into a bottle of A1 sauce. The purple cabbage cole slaw had no flavor. The smoked beans were good but fairly unremarkable. The sweet potato muffin served with the BBQ platters was heavily sweetened, more like dessert than bread. This is a passable BBQ restaurant; certainly not terrible, but definitely not great either. The Joint is still the winner in metro New Orleans.
(3)Kressy R.
My husband and I, being from KY are always looking for good bbq. I got iced tea to drink and later found out it was out of a bottle. What bbq restaurant doesn't brew their own iced tea?! We each got the 2 meat plate. I got the pork and smoked boudin and my husband got the brisket and pork. We each got extra sweet potato muffins and the baked beans and mac and cheese. The bbq sauces are on the side and I wish the waitress would have explained a little about the sauces, they have four different ones. The beans were really good and we liked the macaroni also. I hate mayo and am always glad when a place has more sides than cole slaw or potato salad. The sweet potato muffins were a little tough but the flavor was good. Maybe it was an off day for them. The flavor of the pork and boudin were good and so was the brisket, my husband claimed, though it looked a little dry to me. It's certainly not the best bbq I've had, but possibly the best I've had in New Orleans. I haven't tried McClure's and am looking forward to their opening. My husband and I both agreed we enjoyed our lunch and would return.

Oh yes, this place is goooood. Yumm-o. Went tonight, they've been open in this location less than a week. I initially judge a BBQ places on their house-made sauce and Saucy's is delicious. Mom and I went. She had the 2 meat plate (chicken and pulled pork) with mac & cheese and cole slaw for sides. I had the pulled pork nachos. We ordered 5 of the sweet potato muffins too. The meats were tasty, juicy, smoky... top it off with their BBQ sauce and you're (literally) in hog heaven. The mac & cheese is clearly homemade which is exactly what you want. The coleslaw was a little meh so maybe we'll pass on that next time. We considered ordering a dozen sweet potato muffins to take with us, but we didn't --- they're really delicious. The only gripe I have were the nachos chips --- they were like those yellow movie theater-style nacho chips; however, the toppings were delicious of course. They do not have their liquor license yet, so BYOB of course, which is fine. I assume that will come later. In the tradition of BYOB they'll bring you a bucket of ice for your beverages. I recommend you check it out. Mom said: "that chicken beast was THE BOMB"... and it really was :) check out Saucy's!!
(4)Lola L.
Awesome! LOVE the pulled pork nachos! I get them every time. And the staff and owners are the best too!
